Asger Sørensen is defending his dissertation Educating through Alienation to Democracy Tuesday November 10^th. We have taken the opportunity to invite the three members of the Assessment Committee for the Defence to come and share with us what the topics of their current research interests are.

Constitutive Concealment
Constitutive Concealment is about academic peer review, where anonymity has come to be regarded as synonymous with scientific neutrality.  The study maps the steps involved in achieving the effacement of the peer reviewer, all the more so since the advent of the use of AI, and dissects the complicated relationship between autonomy and anonymity in the work of judgment.

Wittgenstein´s six philosophical projects 1929 – 1951
A careful reading of Wittgenstein´s entire Nachlass reveals a Kantian architecture relating to six distinct philosophical projects. These projects, however, unfold within a framework - within a philosophy of culture - where notions of language(games), education, and authority of pupils are core considerations. As is the case with Georg Simmel, Ernst Cassirer, among others, Wittgenstein´s philosophy, marks a Goethean approach to culture, challenging Hegelian and other post-Kantian forms of philosophy, in highlighting the skills and possibilities of individuals within the greyzone between  Society and personal life.

Education as Conceptual Self-Realization. A Neo-Hegelian Approach
According to Hegel, 'conceptual self-realization" is the process, through which a self that is intersubjectively constituted from the outset, becomes a social and material reality.  This process is precisely what Bildung means in the genuine Hegelian sense of this term. The Hegelian Bildung as self-realization combines the normative notions of individual growth in the sense of self-universalization, and social progress in the sense of fulfilment and institutionalization of the forms of intersubjective recognition like empathy, respect, and social esteem (Honneth).
