Title

Integrating Personal Learning Environments in Higher Education: Student as potential co-creators of universities media ecologies

Description

In their daily lives, students are using a plethora of different digital media, -tools  and -services, of which the learning management systems put to their disposal by the university, only constitutes a small fraction of what could be described as the students’ Personal Learning Environment. Students hold tacit insight in the structures, connections and relations of these media and should be regarded as stakeholders, when creating future educational designs.

This talk will suggest to take the above elements into account, when doing educational designing in the future, and move away from the rigid thinking of only using closed portals and learning management systems to a more open approach of designing media ecologies for and with the students.
